I decided to give the plasma cutter a work out. I had this old stove in my yard. I had picked it up intending to cut it apart and salvage plates from it. I figured it was good material for Jeep skid plates. I never got around to cutting it up before today though. The 'new to me' plasma cutter made the job seem a lot easier, so I tackled it today. I also thought this would be a good test to see how long consumables would last for this unit. The job took most of the afternoon. The stove was double walled in several places, adding to the amount of cutting I needed to do. The plasma cut the 5/16" plate quickly, but I had to stop every 18" or so and wait for the air compressor to catch up. I also found the thermal cutout a few times. It's good to know that works right.
I was pleasantly surprised at how long the consumables lasted. I haven't changes the nozzle yet, although it is pretty much ready to change. The hole never grew larger or ovaled, but the center of the nozzle is very thin now. I could probably cut some more with it, but they only cost a buck so why chance it. The electrode still seems to be good to go.
