Report on MFES for the Honeywell Engineers’ Club

The Minnesota Federation of Engineering Societies (MFES) is an umbrella society for 15 technical organizations in Minnesota.

Board of Directors Meetings are held once a quarter, to which MFES representatives from each technical organization are invited. Executive committee meetings are held monthly. I attended one of each, but have schedule conflicts for the remainder.

The main activity of MFES is a banquet held in cooperation with the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) in the first quarter of each year.

Two awards are presented on behalf of MFES: the Young Engineer of the Year Award and the Charles W. Britzius Distinguished Engineer of the Year Award.

Other MFES activities include:

  1. work with the University of Minnesota in mentoring and technical seminars
  2. participation in supplier expos
  3. communicating with the Minnesota legislature regarding laws that affect engineers
